Tips For Obtaining And Maintaining A Healthy Heart

February is American Heart Month, so to help us on our journey to achieve and maintain a healthy heart, the folks at Natural Vitality have comprised a free eBook.

I was shocked to read a recent statistic stating that one in four people in the US will die of heart disease.  This is why it's important to take precautions to keep our heart healthy.  Coronary artery is the most common form of heart disease and it's said to be the cause of death for almost fifty percent of all heart disease.

What can one do?

For starters: get your magnesium.  There are many benefits of this necessary mineral and a recent study found magnesium deficiency is shown to significantly increase the risk of  coronary artery calcification, aka: hardening of the arteries.

Magnesium supplements not created equally

Many magnesium supplements are not properly absorbed by the body, rendering them ineffectual. For years I've been using Natural Calm, this is what recommend to my friends and family.  It comes in a water soluble powder that I mix with water; usually hot water in the winter and seltzer in the summer.  It actually has a nice flavor.

Add lemon flavored Natural Calm to sparkling water for a refreshing heat healthy drink. One of many tips found in the eBook to getting and obtaining a healthy ticker.

After suffering a mild heart attack a few years ago, I had to change my lifestyle and become aware of everything that could affect my health. I am more active now, going for walks and short hikes. I drink much more water and stay away from fatty foods. And I avoid stressful situations - I even had to quit my very stressful job at the time! ;)

I've been worrying a lot about my heart lately because my heartbeat gets kind of erratic. I've been exercising more, drinking lots of water, taking fish oil and CoQ10, and eating better. I started taking magnesium, but now I need to check and see if it's a good one or a useless one!

Four new heart healthy recipes sound great. Also, a new approach to heart-healthy eating that doesn’t focus on deprivation certainly caught my attention as many plans seem to deprive one of food.

The Kids Health Guide Stress Less would be interesting to read. Also the Green Chef's series.
