Preparing Salads Is A Breeze With The Right Tools

Get Ready for Summer Event featuring the best tools and gadgets to
make salad preparation effortless and even enjoyable.

I tend to eat more salads in the warm summer than I do when it's nippy outside.  It's a combination of being more fitness conscious as well as desiring something cool and refreshing in the summer heat.  It's also easier to find fresh produce in the summer.

Dexas; the innovators behind some of the most efficient kitchenware on the market, offers a slew of items that not only make salad prep easy, they also absolves the need for numerous products.  They do this while solving storage issues AND looking pretty.  Creating these products takes a level of ingenuity that most of us don't possess.

Not your average salad spinner

Turbo Collapsible Salad Spinner by Dexas

I love this salad spinner! Normally when I prepare salad greens I need a bowl to soak the lettuce and a colander to drain the lettuce.   Now I just need this one product to accomplish both tasks. Of course that's not all.  The main purpose of the spinner is to effectively dry leafy greens.

Greens before spinning

Greens after spinning

As you can see from the images most of the moisture was removed after a couple spinning cycles, which took no longer than a few seconds. This means no more waiting for greens to dry. The inner colander is convenient for easy draining. Along with drying greens, the Dexas Turbo Collapsible Salad Spinner also features a five quart capacity AND, as the name suggests, collapses for easy storage.

How did I live without my Mezzaluna

There's a nifty little raw food joint near where I live.  They often serve prepared salads and various veggie dishes.  The vegetables in these dishes are always finely chopped.  The owner, a health guru, believes this is optimal for proper digestion. This makes sense since most people don't chew their food nearly long enough.

The Mezzaluna is an inexpensive little devise that effortlessly chops vegetables and so forth in record speed. This is due to the double blade as well as generous size.  The Mezzaluna doesn't use traditional blades, but rather a high-impact ABS plastic, so it's actually far safer to use on most surfaces  Thus chopping in bowls is not a problem, the design is actually conducive to be used in bowls if need be. Making it that much more handy.

The photo above demonstrates the ease of dicing a cucumber and onion.   I found this to be far more ideal than using a knife.  I never get my veggies this fine, so this is a first for me.  I basically used a chopping motion for both the cucumber and onion.  For the leafy greens I used a chopping and light grinding motion.  All the veggies chopped up in no time. There's no need for a separate chopping device, like one that my mom owns, but never uses because just setting it up takes more time than it's worth.  The Mezzaluna is all ya need to get the job done with very little effort and record speed.

My favorite salad recipe:

Leafy greens
Cucumbers
Onions
Black olives
Cherry tomatoes
Salt
Pepper
Oregano
Basil
Olive oil
Cheese

Ah, a salad worthy of my local raw foods cafe.  My yummy salad is complemented by a pretty salad bowl and Salad Hands by Dexas, which I look forward to using when I'm actually entertaining. The attachable Klip Kup, which is so handy, is holding extra dressing.  Since I didn't have blue cheese, I mixed red wine vinegar with olive oil and cheese. The Salad Bowl offers a five quart capacity, so it really is perfect for entertaining.

I love the pop of color.  I own several colors in Dexas kitchenware and they mix really nicely together.  Everything stores easily. I hang the bowl, salad hands, mezzaluna, Grippboad and other Dexas items up in the pantry.  Many of the items like the Salad Spinner collapse, so they don't take up a great deal of room on the shelf.  The folks creating these products really thought of everything.

I think the collapsible salad spinner is my must have. I hate how much space ours takes up, it's impractical and half the time it ends up shoved in the pantry because we don't have the cupboard space. The straining tongs also look neat, although I wonder if they're a bit of a gimmick. I'd love to try them out!

I love both the water bottle and the collapsible salad spinner. With the water bottle, my cat and I could drink our different waters at the same time like we normally do but with 2 cups. With the salad spinner, I fix salads every single week. Have to have my greens. I could put the collapsible one up easier in between salads. This companies makes great stuff!

We love salad and have it every night, so the salad spinner would be great.

I would use the dual hydration bottle with water and fresh lemons in it.

I've tried different salad spinners without much success--I still have to dry the greens with a towel. This "turbo" model might just be the solution to my problem! And I love that it's collapsible, too.

I know some people find salad spinners frivolous but they are a must-have in our kitchen because we eat a ton of greens. And that collapsible salad spinner is genius!

Salad hands would be amazing. But a must have is the collapsible funnel. I hate finding space for funnels.

I would love to have a spinner like that to get the water out of my lettuce. I just hate all of that residue at the bottom of the bowl when the salad is all done.

The salad spinner would be so awesome for the hot months of summer. We eat salads several times a week and I hate how long it takes to dry lettuce with a towel. But I hate soggy lettuce.

One thing I love about all of their products is that they are so bright and colorful and playful ~ just delightful to look at. Another quality that most of their "bulkier" products are COLLAPSIBLE for easy storage ~ I LOVE IT!

I could really use all of the wonderful kitchen "gadgets" (tools) in the prize package. And when I checked out their website, I found even more to love: the Collapsible Colanders and the H-Duo Hydration Bottles are awesome. I really like their line of PET TRAVEL products too!
