Bring Back Fresh Coffee

Over the summer I had a yard sale in which I sold My grandmother's french press for three dollars.  I remember it was one of the first things that sold.  The recipient was extremely excited, as well as incredulous, at finding such an amazing bargain.  Even though I couldn't guarantee that it worked,  I still had seller's remorse.

Since that time I've dug around and discovered that french presses are ideal in producing great tasting coffee.  While I don't consider myself to be a coffee connoisseur, I do recognize that the ever popular k-cups do not produce the best tasting coffee.   My mom received a Keurig as a gift and wasn't using it because she goes out for fresh coffee, so she gave it to me and I really hate it. Even if you go to Cosco and buy those pods, or k-cups, in bulk they still manage to be substantially higher in price than regular coffee.  So you're basically paying more for compromised tasting coffee.

What about convenience?

Convenience seems to take precedence over taste.  Don't get me wrong, I like to keep my morning routine simple.  The French Press that I reviewed from Kitchen Supreme, may require a bit more effort than inserting a pod and pushing a button, but it's still in the realm of simple and time-friendly, and oh so worth the little bit of extra effort.

Kitchen Supreme top rated coffee press, inexpensive and delivers a great cup of coffe

Convenience without sacrificing quality

Filling the carafe will render three cups of coffee, which is what I normally drink.  Of course coffee amount and water can be adjusted for one or two cups.  Thus, you're still getting the simplicity and convenience of a single serve coffee maker, just far better coffee.

I'll admit, I was somewhat intimidated by the process of making coffee using the French Press, however, it's an absolute breeze.

A 3-step process is all it takes

first two steps: add the coffee then add the water

If I can successfully use a French Press, then anyone can..

Third step: Simply press down

I first added the coffee to the carafe and then the hot water.  I stirred and let it sit for a few minutes, then I gently pressed down on the plunger. Viola!

The french press by Kitchen Supreme is by far my favorite, they make the process so simple and it even looks ever so cute gracing my counter.

Clean up is a breeze

The Carafe is dishwasher safe, however, since I don't run the dishwasher daily and I do use my French Press every day, I simply just dump the grinds in the trash; fill the carafe with hot water and dish soap then add the plunger and let it soak. Rinse and air dry.

Kitchen Supreme uses Borosilicate Glass:  This is the only type of glass conceived to resist at thermal shocks, it will never crack!

I've always heard that a French Press makes the best coffee, but up til now, I've never actually used one. It's time to get a new coffeemaker, as ours broke, and I've been living on instant (YUCK!). From your description, it doesn't seem as intimidating as I thought it would be. I'd love to try it. : )

Oh, French Press coffee is truly the best! Consider grinding you own coffee before brewing- it makes a delicious difference. My press just broke after 7 years (!) of use, and I'm pretty sad about it.

Speaking of your garage sale experience...... I was the lucky person who asked for a french press coffee maker on freecycle and actually received one. I couldn't believe someone would give it away. But I was grateful. I also remember the look on my toddler's face when he managed to get my french press that I left in a spot he could reach on the counter. When I came into the room and I spotted him, he had this smile on his face. Just as I rushed towards him, he dropped it and the carafe shattered.

This is the cleanest method of coffee presentation I've encountered. You regulate the strength of the brew and the temp of the water, lessens the bitterness from a machine.

As a lifelong coffee lover, I spent a good 15-20 years experimenting, trying to find the best (if not perfect) coffeemaker / method to make the best coffee. My husband too is a coffee lover and he's been in the restaurant/hospitality business for decades.

When we got married, he insisted (and the expert) that the good old fashioned perculator was the best ~ but my extensive research was very conclusive: the French Press is superior to any other method.

It took awhile (pride was a factor) but Hubby finally came around and agreed/admitted that yes the FRENCH PRESS is the tried and true best.
