Pure Organic Coconut Oil by Nutiva

I often praised coconut oil on this site for its many nutritional benefits.  Coconut oil is also one of those good fats that are conducive to weight loss.  So I certainly couldn't let my fitness series go by without including one of my favorite healthy fats.

Of course I realize that there are many uses for coconut oil, but I just want to focus in on it's dietary benefits.

Lauric acid makes up approximately half of the fatty acids found in Coconut Oil.  This is the same fatty acid found in human breast milk.   The body utilizes this fatty acid by converting it into monolaurin and this is said to help the body defend itself against harmful contaminates and bacteria.

Other healthy-fats found in coconut oil are instrumental for proper brain and heart function.  All these good fats contained in coconut oil are immediately burned by the liver for energy.  So it's no surprise then that coconut oil is said to increase your metabolism and energy level.

Here's the caveat: not all coconut oils are created equal.

Nutiva is a stringent company in regard to the high quality of their products.   Their Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil isn't massed processed, but rather they use a more tedious cold-press technology in order to maintain the rich nutrients in the oil.  This also means that the product is unrefined, completely pure and purely delicious!

Nutiva is certified organic

Stir Fry with Nutiva Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

I recently read that it's far better to cook with coconut oil as opposed to olive oil; another favorite of mine, this is due to nutrients in olive oil being damaged by higher levels of heat, whereas this is not the case with coconut oil.

I love the taste of Nutiva's Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.  As I brought out it's great to cook with and I also use it simply as a spread for bread and rolls.  I take this to restaurants and use it in lieu of butter.   There are plenty of scrumptious recipes featured on Nutiva's website and I look forward to trying them all;)

Awesome!

The lauric acid in coconut oil is also highly anti-bacterial, so it supports healthy gut linings. Also, coconut oil is a wonderful form of saturated fats, helping us break away from the myth based on outdated studies that all saturated fats are bad for us.

I use that stuff as moisturizer too:)

Have an awesome day!
