The dictionary defines joy as: "Intense and especially ecstatic or exultant happiness." For those of us who suffer with depression this may not be the easiest question since this emotion eludes us. I think the second definition my be a bit more doable: "A source or an object of pleasure or satisfaction"
Regardless of pain that a person may experience in their lives most of us are fortunate enough to find some constant that keeps us afloat. For me that is my family. Without them I wouldn't of survived as long as i did. They have been a constant source of encouragement to me especially in difficult times.
I also believe animals to be a huge source of joy. They are so innocent, adorable, and give back so much. It is no wonder that animals are said to lower blood pressure, alleviate anxiety and boost our immunity.
So when it is all said and done the things that have kept me going and brought me any source of joy have not been expensive vacations or even the bells and whistles that I at one time experienced in my life, but rather true satisfaction has come from my family as well as my pets.
